Government Scholarships For 2019

The Ministry of Government Scholarships invites applications for scholarships for the 2019 academic year. The Government Scholarship targets able but disadvantaged students mainly from rural schools in remote districts of the country’s provinces, intent on pursuing undergraduate studies at foreign Universities in the following disciplines:

Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Electrical Dentistry, Bio-Medical Sciences and Bio-Kinetics Bio-chemistry Medicine and Surgery, Psychiatry, Nursing Science, Physiotherapy Dietetics

 

  1. Science (20)

Actuarial Sciences Geological Sciences Archeological Sciences Geo Information and Meteorology

 

  1. Agricultural (40)

Horticulture, Soil Science, Agricultural Economics, Winery, Irrigation and Technology, Wildlife Management, Environmental Management, Water Conservation & Mgt Zoology and Entology

 

  1. Commerce/Management Science (20)

Accounting Science, Financial Intelligence, Business Economics, Insurance and Risk Management, Entrepreneurship, Forensic Auditing

 

  1. Social Sciences (20)

Law (LLB), Geographical information, Drama and Film Studies Heritage and Cultural Tourism, Social Work, Archeology Fine Arts, Design and Graphics International Relations, Physical and Town Planning,  Visual Studies, Tourism and Hospitality Management

Preference will be given to applicants who satisfy the following criteria:

 

  1. Applicants must be resident in one of the ten provinces, preferably in the remote districts of the rural provinces. Students from remote districts, which have not benefitted from previous selection, will be given preference.

 

  1. Priority is given to deserving orphans and less privileged applicants.

 

NB: THE DISTRICT OF ORIGIN AND PROVINCE OF THE APPLICANT SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED ON THE CURRICULUM VITAE

  1. Candidates for undergraduate studies must be under 25 years of age and should possess a minimum of ten (10) points in relevant ‘A’ level subjects for chosen degree studies.

 

  1. Emphasis will be on gender balancing.

 

  1. Programmes 1 to 4

 

Above require good ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics Physics, Chemistry and or Biology and all the programmes require ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade in English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level.

 

  1. Programme 5

Accounting requires good ‘A’ Level grades in Mathematics, Accounting with Economics or Business Management coupled with A or B grades in ‘0’ Level Mathematics and English Language.

 

  1. Programme 6

 

All programmes require:

  • A minimum of 10 points at ‘A’ Level
  • Combination include: History, Geography, Literature in English, Art, Mathematics, Sociology.
  • Grades ‘A’ or ‘B’ in Mathematics and English Language at ‘0’ Level are a pre-requisite.

 

REQUIREMENTS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

 

  1. Prospective students must:
  2. Show proof of good health (a recent and valid medical report must accompany the application).
  3. Show a clean criminal record (certificate from the police is required).
  4. Undertake to return to Zimbabwe on completion of studies.
  5. Be prepared to be bonded by the Government of Zimbabwe.
  6. Provide a detailed curriculum vitae accompanied with certified copies of ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels certificates, and certified copies of the National Identity and Birth Certificates.
  7. Provide a letter of motivation in support of the application, indicating briefly proven family history and social background.
  8. Provide two referees one of whom must be the Head of the last school attended.
  9. All applicants should provide contact telephone numbers; at least 2 numbers.
  10. Students currently at or accepted by any local or foreign university or institute of higher learning or college should disclose this in detail, failure to which their applications will be disqualified.
  11. Prospective applicants must be in possession of a valid passport as soon as they are awarded the scholarship.

All applications should reach the Ministry of Government Scholarships by 28 February 2018.
